Description
The Medical Care Plan (MCP) is a comprehensive system of public medical care insurance that covers the cost of physician services for eligible residents of the province of Newfoundland and Labrador. The MCP Fee-For-Service Physician Claims Database contains information related to services provided by fee-for-service physicians under the provincial MCP and is maintained by the Department of Health and Community Services. The database captures information on sex and age of the patient, provider’s information, and information on the encounter including service date, fee code, cost of main service provided, associated diagnosis and cost premiums charged, among other variables. NLCHI maintains a copy of this database, which is forwarded by the Department of Health and Community Services.
